The South Beach Diet Review
The South Beach Diet developed by Miami based cardiologist Dr. Arthur Agatston falls somewhere in between the high carb, low fat diet of the American Heart Association and the low carb, high fat Atkins diet.
This Diet reduces the amount of bad carbs, and encourages good carbs and good fats. Soft drinks would be examples of bad carbs.
This Diet like the Atkins Diet comes in phases.
Phase one is the strictest part of the diet lasting 2 weeks. Eating 3 meals a day making sure you do not feel hungry all day you concentrate on non carb and non starchy food.As your body falls into a state of ketosis you lose about 10 pounds of mostly water weight.
Phase two lasts until you get to your desired weight. Losing 1 to 2 pounds a week in this phase you reintroduce some of the foods that were banned in phase one.High fiber carbs you can know eat, but staying away from sweet fruits and starchy carbs.
Phase three is a life long eating plan. In this phase some foods are restricted but not to the extent of phase one or two.
